EDF Energy is announcing today (13 February 2009) a cut in its prices for its standard rate electricity customers of up to 12.5 per cent. The average change is a reduction of 8.8 per cent.
The decrease will take effect from 31 March 2009. Even before today's announcement, EDF Energy was already on average cheaper than British Gas for a typical dual fuel customer on standard tariffs.
After today's cut, EDF Energy will also be cheaper than British Gas dual fuel in every region and for all payment methods.
These reductions will apply in London, South East, South West, Wales and Scotland benefiting the vast majority of our standard rate customers across the country.
Today's announcement shows EDF Energy's determination to continue to provide competitive prices, deliver excellent service and first-class choice for our customers.
In other regions, EDF Energy is already offering some of the lowest tariffs on the market. For a dual fuel credit customer, EDF Energy is between £53 and £75 cheaper than British Gas even after its recent price cut.
